Obituary of Sharon Lynn Daly
Sharon Lynn Daly (Beresford) passed away peacefully at Morristown Memorial Hospital on October 6, 2024, at the age of 75.
Born and raised in Newark, NJ, to Leo and Margaret (Murphy) Beresford, Sharon moved to the Indian Lake section of Denville in 1975, where she created a loving home for her family.
Sharon had a diverse career, working in various clerical positions for Metropolitan Bank in Denville and First Morris and Provident Banks in Morristown and Convent Station. Sharon also worked for Newsweek Magazine in Mountain Lakes. She finished her career working with Sodexo foodservice at Morris Hills High School. A devoted community member, Sharon volunteered as the secretary for the Joey Bella Memorial Fund, served as secretary of the Indian Lake Women’s Club, and was the President of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Sharon was a long-time parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Denville. She also dedicated time as a Girl Scout Leader, inspiring young girls with her kindness and leadership. Sharon made many friends in these roles throughout the years and was known for her care and compassion for others.
Sharon was predeceased by her siblings James “Sonny” Beresford and Joyce Cavanaugh, as well as her beloved nieces and nephews: Patrick Grohs, Patrick Paulis, Michelle DeRose, Stephen DeRose, and James DeRose.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Daniel James Daly Sr.; her children, Daniel Daly Jr. (Tara), Colleen Warr (James), and Kevin Daly (Marisa); and her cherished grandsons, Daniel, Andrew, Liam, Aiden, and Brendan and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 11, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Denville, followed by a graveside service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.

Sharon will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her deep commitment to her community. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and service that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
