I first met Kathleen when she worked in the Rockaway Borough School system, where our sons, Michael and Steve, were good buddies. Our relationship deepened when we both became realtors. We shared wonderful talks about a myriad of topics, almost always agreeing, which further cemented our bond. One of the joys we both cherished was exchanging stories about our kids and later, our grandkids. Both Steve and my daughter, Lisa, remember Kathleen with fondness, and whenever he name came up, they were quick to say how much they "really liked" her.
Kathleen and I discovered we shared another trait: a touch of “ditziness.” We would laugh about our occasional moments of forgetting where we put the kids! (Rest assured, their safety was never at risk!)
As a country girl, I was always impressed by Kathleen, my city-girl friend. I loved her stories of growing up in Brooklyn, her blunt honesty, her sincere humanitarianism, and her passionate political views. Kathleen, a fellow book lover, introduced me to the Rockaway Borough Book Club, where we enjoyed some great reads and lots of laughter. She was also quick to offer help, like when she repeatedly drove me to an eye specialist in Teaneck. It was a bit like the “blind leading the blind,” but I had complete confidence in her, and she always came through. On other occasions, she even offered to care for my dog when I couldn’t, or help whenever she thought I needed it.
Friends like Kathleen are rare, and I will miss her deeply.

I will always remember Mrs. Pedersen as a wonderful neighbor (from a couple streets down). I loved visiting with her and her husband during walks as a teenager, and chose her as my realtor when I married. We had a great time driving around looking for houses. You are loved, Mrs. P! So glad you get to see Don again.

My deepest condolences to Kathleen's family on her passing. She was an avid reader and a cherished member of our book group at Cooks Pond. She contributed in a very thoughtful way and I always enjoyed hearing her perspective. I also enjoyed chatting with her when she visited the library and looked forward to helping her find her next read. She will be missed!

Condolences to Kathleen's family on her passing. May he r gentle soul rest in peace.
I have lovely memories of meeting my cousin Kathleen on one of her visits to Ireland and again when I visited her with my sister Anna in her home in New Jersey.

A special friend with a wonderful sense of humor and a very kind heart.
