My dog Sadie and I enjoyed our weekly pet therapy visits with Dave and Pat. When we returned home from vacation last week, I was heartbroken to hear of Dave’s passing. We will continue to share our love and compassion with Pat. Sending our thoughts and prayers to Dave and his loving family.

I met David for the first time at the Irving Park YMCA in the early 1950’s when we were 10 or 11 years old, along with several others boys our age. At the time, little did we know that we would remain life long friends staying in contact with one another for the rest our lives regardless of what we were doing. As we all grew up, went away to school, started our careers, met the loves of our lives and raised our families, we always managed to stay in touch with one another regardless of where we were or what we were doing in life. David was a lifelong member of our group, and I will miss his presence, his wit and his good counsel.
Rest in peace David.

To Dave-It’s going to be smooth sailing from here on out! You deserve steady winds, my friend. My love to your family. You’ll always be one of the Y’S guys (Irving Park). RIP.

This obituary was a wonderful tribute to my brother, he was very special and will be missed. Dave was my mentor growing up as our father died when I was 11 months and David three years old. He taught me to be confident in myself and learn how to face life and all the challenges with strength and faith. He was honest as the day is long and was always concerned for the other person. I will miss our phone conversations and memories shared of growing up. I will miss him immensely and so will others. We would be there in New Jersey and Lake Forest but Covid is preventing me from traveling from California.

What a loss! Dave and Pat were such a great addition to St. Andrew Lutheran Church when they moved to The Oaks. Always smiles on their faces, a story to tell, and eagerness to be a part of our ministry. Dave was an inspiration of a "can-do" attitude and we missed them when they were no longer able to be with us weekly. Our prayers go out to Pat and the entire family. May you smile when you remember him. Karin Kruse
