Obituary of Doris Femiano Pappas

Doris Femiano Pappas passed away peacefully with her husband, faithfully by her side on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Oaks Healthcare Center in Denville. She had shared 88 years of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born and raised in Jersey City to the late Albert Femiano and Isabella Paparelli, Doris was the only child to bless their household. She was extremely smart, humble, and kind. After graduating High School, she went on to earn her Bachelor and Master Degree from Jersey City State College. Doris created a lasting career for herself at James F. Murray Elementary School, PS #38, in Jersey City. She had worked for 33 years, changing lives for the better, before retirement in 1998. Doris married her best friend, George S. Pappas in 1983. Although Doris never had any children of her own, she was given the beautiful gift of family when she married George. She became an instant Step-Mom, and later Grandma and Great-Grandma. Doris thrived at the job. She enjoyed turning a house into a home and she was great at it. She was a remarkable woman who will be sorely missed.

Public Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 25^th from 4 – 7 pm with a Funeral Service beginning at 6:30 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Doris will be laid to rest with her parents at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, privately. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by way of www.inmemof.org would be greatly appreciated.
