Obituary of Edward Gerard Brennan

Edward G. Brennan passed away at his home in Rockaway Twp., NJ surrounded by his family on July 13. 2024, at the age of 92.

 

Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Long Island, NY, Mountain Lakes, NJ and Boonton, NJ before moving to Rockaway Twp., NJ in 2019.

 

Edward proudly served in the United States Navy and the United States Marines during the Korean War where he served as a medic. He then earned his Bachelor’s Degree from St. John’s University in 1958 where he was a relief pitcher for their baseball team, never losing a game.  He also was a recipient of the “McSwiney Award” for senior athletes who “Typify the St. John’s Man”.  Edward then went on to work as a Corporate Security Director for Nabisco in East Hanover, NJ for many years before retiring in 1995.  He loved to sail, and for many years would spend time on his Bristol 37.5 sailboat out of Rock Hall, MD sailing the Chesapeake Bay, where he was also a member of the Osprey Club.  His favorite thing above all else was spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren.

 

He was predeceased by his son Matthew Brennan in 1993.

 

Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Carol (Ferretti) Brennan of Rockaway Township, NJ.  He is also survived by his loving children Robert and his wife Elizabeth Brennan of Mt. Tabor, NJ and Maureen Brennan of Ledgewood, NJ.  His adoring grandchildren Kathleen Brennan, Matthew Brennan, Jane Brennan, William Brennan, Evan and his wife Elizabeth Price and Neall Price.

 

A memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Friday August 2, 2024, at 10:30AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church 10 North Pocono Road Mt. Lakes, NJ 07046 under the direction of Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Avenue Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com.
