Obituary of Austin Francis Noll Jr.
Austin F. Noll Jr. died peacefully on June 17, 2024, at the age of 80. He battled the effects of both a stroke and lymphoma with courage, grace, and the wonderful smile and positive attitude that he was so known for having. Never once did he complain about his illnesses, telling everyone that he felt “wonderful” when asked how he was doing.
Born in Harrisburg, PA, Austin lived all over the United States, especially in his early married years, eventually settling down with his wife, Duffy, for long stints in Cincinnati and Dublin, Ohio, before moving to Randolph, NJ where he lived until his death.
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from St. Vincent’s College, he went to work in the food industry working for General Foods, Borden and Nabisco in both Sales and Trade Relations, eventually starting his own consulting agency before retiring.
Austin had many loves in life. First and foremost, his wife and family. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and extended family playing in the water and walking on the boardwalk at Rehoboth beach as well as grilling out and watching the sunset over the water on the shores of Lake Erie in the summer. He also had a love of travel, especially to Ireland, where he drank many a Guinness with friends and lost many a golf ball at the numerous courses he played there over the years. He knew Ireland better than most locals there. Austin dearly loved his friends that he had all over the country and he spoke fondly of them often. Those friends were more than friends, they were family too. Austin was also an ardent Ohio State Buckeyes fan, frequently singing the fight song and dancing when the Buckeyes scored a touchdown, especially against “that team from up north”. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. He truly made the world a better place and the world will not be the same without him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy Eileen (Fischer) Noll, as well as his loving children Austin F. Noll, III and his wife Cheryl Noll, and Michelle and her husband Alan Vitulich. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren Madison (& Mason) Finch, Ella Vitulich, Caitlin Vitulich and his Great Granddaughter Lily Finch, as well as his siblings Jerry and his wife, Lynn Noll, Kathleen Hillyard and Dennis and his wife, Martie Noll, and numerous nieces and nephews. Austin was predeceased by his parents, Austin F. Noll and Marguerite (Daley) Noll, and his cherished grandson, Austin F. Noll IV.
