Obituary of Narcisso Domenico Ambrosi
Narcisso “Nick” Domenico Ambrosi passed away peacefully after a brief illness at St. Clare’s hospital in Denville, NJ on April 7, 2024, at the age of 94.
Born in Carisolo, Trento, Italy in 1930 to Guido and Mary (Maestri) Ambrosi, he immigrated to the United States in 1940 at the age of 10 through Ellis Island. Nick spent the rest of his childhood years in the Bronx, NY, where he helped his father and four brothers with the family knife-grinding business. He married his beloved sweetheart Cynthia (Leone) in 1951 in the Bronx, NY and then moved to Denville, NJ in 1956 where they raised their five children and continued the family grinding and locksmith business. Nick and Cynthia then lived in Rockaway Township, NJ for 25 happy years where they hosted countless holidays, Sunday dinners, and joyful moments with family, friends, and neighbors. After Cynthia’s passing in 2021, Nick moved to a quaint apartment in Netcong, NJ where he made new friends and enjoyed many visits with his children and grandchildren.
Nick proudly served overseas in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded 3 Bronze Stars. In addition to running his successful locksmith and grinding business, Master Grinding, for fifty years, Nick enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife, playing cards with his friends, and spending quality time with his family – plus, of course, indulging in fine wine and good Italian food.
Nick was predeceased by his beloved wife of 70 years, Cynthia (Leone) Ambrosi, as well as his four brothers, Italo “Bill”, August “Gus”, Remo, and Dino Ambrosi.
Nick is survived by his loving children Jerry and his wife Diane, Mike and his wife Patty, Jim and his wife Cathy, Chris and his wife Lee, and Cathy (Ambrosi) Jacobsen and her husband Lars Jacobsen. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren Matthew, Vanessa, Ashley, Chelsea, Emily, Laela, Jesse, Cara and Stephanie, as well as his great grandchildren Everly, Brooks, Cole, Hallie, Claire and Blake. And, his sister in-law Irma Ambrosi.
