Obituary of Donald J. Bradley

Donald Joseph Bradley, aka “DJ”, a bright light in this world, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at The Oaks Healthcare Center in Denville. He had shared 95 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, priceless wisdom, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born and raised in Morristown to the late Peter and Florence Bradley, he was one of two sons to bless their household. After graduating from Morristown High School, Class of 1946, Donald joined the workforce. In 1950 he proudly made the decision to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his Honorable Discharge in 1952, he began his career with Suburban Propane in Whippany. He retired after 42 years of hard work and dedication in the auditing and administration department. He was talented, making and refinishing furniture. He was the “handyman” around the house, fixing anything that needed it at his home.

In 1955, Donald married his best friend and true soulmate, Mary Christine Trapani. Together they settled into Beacon Hill in Denville to raise a family. Family was always the most important thing Donald’s life. He always took care of his own and made the time for annual trips to see the grandkids and make memories. He was truly a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Donald was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Denville American Legion Post #390. Along with his beautiful bride and friends, he loved going out for a night on the town, on cruises, and vacations. He was outgoing, quirky, and hilarious. Always on the go, Donald was big into exercise; you could often find him on a jog around the neighborhood. This started back in the 70’s when the President’s Physical Fitness Program encouraged the country to take part in physical fitness, which he continued throughout his life. He was also a talented pianist who was able to play music by ear. Music was a part of his soul. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Mary, his son-in-law, Lawrence Forman, his parents, Peter and Florence, and his brother, Peter.

His legacy will live on in the hearts of his adored daughters, Donna Bradley and her significant other, Joe Kuhl and Diane Bradley; his cherished grandchildren, Jenay and Joel Forman; his loving cousin, Rita Moore of Neptune, NJ; his caring niece and nephew, Peter Bradley and his wife, Kathy and Suzanne Bradley; and many more dear extended family and friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21^st from 3 – 7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 22^nd at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Donald’s memory by way of www.inmemof.org to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
