Obituary of Robert DiGiovanna
It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Robert J. DiGiovanna who passed away on January 19th, 2024, surrounded by family. Robert lived to the age of 88 and was known by all as a kind and caring man. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many.
Robert was born in Newark, moved to Bloomfield, then to Denville in 1971. He successfully completed his Bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University. Once he completed his education, he became a Probation Officer in Essex County, working mainly with juveniles. He remained with the County for 40 years before retiring in 1996.
Married for 57 years to his beloved wife Carol (née Moll), while raising six children, and having a successful career, he still managed to have time to volunteer in the community. He was very active in recreational sports as coach and assistant coach for Bloomfield and Denville sports programs including baseball and track. Robert was a long-time usher at St. Mary’s Church and active member of the Knights of Columbus #3359. In retirement he cherished his time with family and loved supporting his grandchildren from the sideline.

His loving grandchildren Sabrina (Michael Cassara) Pelech, Jared Pelech, Austin Morris, Monica Morris, Christopher Colucci, Anthony Colucci, and Caroline Colucci, as well as his sweet great granddaughter Annabella Rose Cassara.
