Uncle Ted and Aunt Amelia were always a special part of our family. Even though I was young I remember trips to Miami to visit them. They lived in a high-rise and I can remember the beautiful view of the ocean. Once they moved back to NJ we saw them more frequently. Trips to the turkey farm, the German restaurants, and visits to our home in Verona always bring fond memories. I was excited as a kid when they visited because it meant my mom would make lasagna but I found it special the way Uncle Ted was such a wonderful and loving husband to Aunt Amelia. It made an impression on me and it was so nice to see someone love a person so much. I have no doubt that they are both up in heaven together happily reunited. May his memory live in eternal peace.

As a child when the doorbell rang and my father yelled “Aunt Amelia and Uncle Ted are here”, I knew I was in for a treat. That treat was a visit from two very happy individuals who loved each other immensely and radiated kindness. I will always remember kissing Aunt Amelia’s soft cheek and a great bear hug from Uncle Ted. I was young but still very impressionable and the two of them sure did make a great impression on me. I do recall one afternoon while they were visiting, I had a dress down day from school come Monday and did not have to wear a uniform. We were allowed shorts but the pair I wanted to wear had a hole on the side. Aunt Amelia asked my mother for needle and thread and happily and quickly sewed up the rip in my shorts so they would be ready for the next morning. After Aunt Amelia’s passing, I remember a visit from Uncle Ted where we went bowling. It was quite memorable as I had never seen my parents bowl before and learned that night they used to be on a bowling league together in their younger years. Uncle Ted, although competitive, happily congratulated me on a higher bowling score. The admiration Uncle Ted showed for Aunt Amelia was remarkable. The love they had for each other was evident in the gleam of their eyes. I will always remember Aunt Amelia sharing that she used to prepare his breakfast with a banana every morning. I always found that to be very loving. Although sad of the news of Uncle Ted’s passing, I have faith in my heart knowing that he is once again reunited with his love, Aunt Amelia. May they both live in eternal peace together. With Love, Diana Ambrose
