Obituary of Leonard Francis Williams
It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Leonard Williams, a long-time Denville resident who passed away at St. Clare’s Hospital on October 23rd, 2023.
In March of 1929 Leonard was born to Andrew and Angeline Williams in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. He was raised alongside his siblings and graduated high school there. After high school Leonard went on to serve in the Marines where he learned so much. He worked on aircraft and did many other things to serve his country before returning home. It was then that Leonard met the love of his life, Rose Marie, and made her his wife. The pair shared over 63 years of marriage together and brought 4 children into the world in the process.
Leonard later became a maintenance worker for Warner Lambert where he repaired and maintained refrigeration systems. He worked most of his life as a commercial air conditioning and refrigeration technician and proud member of BTJ Pipefitters. In his free time and into his retirement, Leonard’s one true hobby was golf. He was a member of Peace Pipe Country Club and loved to spend his days on the green. In his earlier years, Leonard would frequent the YMCA to keep in shape, but that later turned into a gym membership at Planet Fitness where he found himself part of a group of gentlemen that enjoyed getting in shape together!
Above all, Leonard loved his family. Any time spent with family was not time wasted, and he treasured each member dearly. Though we are saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is reunited in paradise with those who passed before him; his dear wife, Rose Marie, and his sons, Robert Williams and wife Gail, and Andrew Williams.
We look now to those he leaves behind to carry on his legacy of kindness and care; his children, Rosemary Luzzi and her husband Daniel, Karen Williams and her partner Kelly, his grandchildren, Angela Walsh and her husband Chris, Daniel Luzzi and his wife Stephanie, Nicholas Luzzi, Timothy Williams and his wife Angela, his great grandchildren, Alivia and James Walsh, Leo, Lucca, and Sophia Luzzi, Elliana Williams, as well as a new great-grand baby on the way! His family, friends, and neighbors will all remember him fondly.
If you would like to contribute to Leonard’s memory yourself, please consider making a charitable contribution to PGA Hope; an organization that introduces US veterans to the sport of golf to encourage friendship, physical fitness, and emotional well-being. Memorial donations can be made via inmemof.org.
Hours of public visitation for Leonard are scheduled for 4 to 8 PM on Friday, October 27th, 2023 at Norman Dean Home for Services, with a Vigil service and Military honors to be performed at 7:30 PM. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Leonard to continue to celebrate his memory.
