Obituary of Margaret Patricia Leslie

Margaret Patricia Leslie (Walsh) passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on October 22, 2023, at the age of 83.
 
Born and raised in Newark, she met the love of her life, Jim, when he used to hang around with her brothers Marty and John. After their marriage in 1962, they began their life together on Walnut Street in East Orange before moving into their first home in West Orange. As their family continued to grow, they moved to Denville, NJ over 50 years ago.
 
Margaret loved to spend time with her family, especially her twelve grandchildren. She enjoyed her annual family vacations with all of her children and grandkids down at the Jersey Shore where many memories were made. She also loved to travel, especially with her husband and siblings, visiting Ireland, Greece, Alaska, Switzerland, Venice, Austria and many other fun places. Every year, she looked forward to holidays spent with her sister Mary and the whole Brennan family. Fridays were spent with the “Breakfast Club” friends Maryann, Ginny, Carol and Linda. She loved to watch her kids and grandkids in their different sports and activities, although she would leave the room when one of her sons took the wrestling mat. She particularly liked to watch her favorite baseball team, the New York Mets (especially her Davey Wright). When she became sick, one of the things that she missed most was shopping at Macy's where they once offered her a job because she was there so often.  
 
She was predeceased by parents James and Mary Walsh from Swinford, County Mayo, Ireland, her brother’s John and Martin Walsh as well as her brother in-law Henry "Bubby" Brennan, and sister in-laws Helene Walsh, and Mary Walsh.  
   
Margaret is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, James Joseph Leslie of Denville, NJ.  She is also survived by her loving children Jim and his wife Mary Leslie of Rockaway, NJ, Susan and her husband Patrick Doyle of Boerne, TX, Michael and his wife Maureen Leslie of Sparta, NJ, Peggy and her husband Tom Andrews of Whitehouse Station, NJ, Debbie, and her husband Jon Mattis of Atglen, PA and John and his wife Gina Leslie of Denville, NJ.  She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Kate and Matt Leslie, Chris and Sean Doyle, Tom, Kyle and Kevin Andrews, Joe and Brent Mattis, Lauren Yuhas, and Madison and Ryan Leslie.  She also has one great grandchild that is on the way!  Her siblings Thomas and his wife Jane Walsh of Wall, NJ, Mary Brennan, also of Wall, NJ, and her sister in-law Sheila Walsh of Morristown, NJ also survive her.  
 
Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 25, 2023, from 3:00PM to 7:00PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave, Denville, NJ 07834, www.normandean.com.   A Funeral Mass will be on Thursday October 26, at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Church in Denville, NJ.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
