Obituary of John Raymond Russo
John Raymond Russo passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Fallsview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Boonton. He had shared 70 years of love, laughter, and incredible memories with family and friends.
Born in Morristown to the late Robert and Jean Russo, he was one of nine children to bless their household. Raised in Denville, John grew up alongside his siblings and friends before joining the newspaper industry and raising a family of his own. He was the Circulation Manager for both the Star Ledger and the Daily Record newspapers. While working hard to support his family, John was present in his kids’ lives. He bonded with his sons through his passion of sports and even became the coach on their little league teams. He officially retired in 2008, after a few years of settling in to his new home and marriage with Patricia ArDella (Light) in 2006.
John’s passions were sports, work, and most important of them all, family. He adored the Yankees, especially Derek Jeter, and has golfed at courses all over the country. If you ever find yourself at Pebble Beach Golf Course in California, please smile knowing that John is shining down, enjoying the course with you. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that John is out of pain, resting peacefully with others who have passed before him such as his parents and brothers, Jerry and Kenny.
He leaves a legacy in the hearts of his beloved wife, Patricia Russo; his cherished sons, Dennis Russo and his wife Theresa and Eric Russo and his wife Mehreen; his loving step-sons, Greg Sucharew and Jeff Sucharew and his wife Heidi; his treasured grandchildren, Ryleigh, Reece, and Jocelyn Russo; and his siblings, Robert Russo and his wife Eileen, James “Jimmy” Russo, Charles “Charlie” Russo, Teresa Benevidez and her husband Abe, MaryAnne Benigno and her husband Tony, Anne Crawn and her husband Dave, and Janice Russo; and many more dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, October 28th at 1:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Relatives and friends are welcome to come to church at 12:30 pm to spend some time with family prior to Mass. Memorial Donations are being accepted in John’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation.
