Obituary of Sarah Giganti
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sarah Giganti, better known as
Sadie. Sadie was a long-time resident of Budd Lake, New Jersey, and passed away among her
loved ones on August 21 st , 2023.
In May of 1936, Joseph and Margaret Toner welcomed Sadie into the world in
Stirlingshire, Scotland. She was raised there alongside her eight siblings. Sadie had such fond
memories of her home in Scotland and visited there often. In her adulthood, she made the trip
across the pond to the United States. The independent woman she was, she moved many times
over the years, residing in Utah, California, and many more. After her retirement, Sadie settled
in Budd Lake with her family. She had two beloved sons and a whole host of grandchildren,
nieces, and nephews that she loved so dearly.
In her free time, Sadie was an active member of her community. She frequented the
Mount Olive Senior Citizens club where she made friends at social functions and over games of
Bocce. Sadie was known by everyone as a kind and selfless soul who took every chance she had
to help others. She was always cooking and baking, offering the food to her family and friends.
She always made sure her loved ones were well taken care of. She loved hosting holidays; her
Superbowl parties being second to none, as well as the feast of the seven fishes nearly every
Christmas. Sadie was so strong and had an energy about her that affected all that came to know
her. To know Sadie is to love her.
Sadie’s faith in the Lord was never-ending, and even in her final days she held strong to
the promise of eternal life. After many long years battling cancer, her struggles overcame her,
and her battle came to an end. And though she may be gone, we take comfort in knowing that
she is at peace, dwelling in the house of the Lord, among those who passed before her; her
parents, Joseph and Margaret Toner, and her siblings, Cathie Hagan, Michael Toner, Bernard
Toner, Margaret Toner, and Anne Russo.
We look now to the loved ones she leaves behind, who are now tasked with carrying on
her legacy of kindness and selflessness. Sadie’s family includes her sons, Mark Giganti and his
wife, Janine, Drew Giganti and his wife, Jacqueline, her grandchildren, Jacob Giganti and his
wife, Katherine, Grace Giganti, Drew Giganti (Olivia), Ian Giganti (Lauren), her siblings, Edward
Toner, Joseph Toner, Helen Smith, and a wealth of friends and neighbors. Please keep these
people in your thoughts and prayers.
