Obituary of Helen Shio

It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Helen Shio, who passed away on August 12th, 2023.

​Helen Shio has been at Rockefeller University NYC for many years as the Department Head of Electron Microscopy. She developed many unique techniques in her field to enable many research scientists to obtain information and results, that no one else could. Her work has been included and she has been cited in many important research papers with world renowned science researchers. One of her proudest achievements was working with Nobel Prize laureate, Dr. Christian de Duve, for many years and having her work and her name included in many of his published research work. Her legacy is permanently etched in the annals and history of research science, for which she was most proud.

​Helen leaves behind her three sisters, one brother, and their families, all who will remember her as a smart, humble, and kind woman. Helen will be laid to rest privately at Kensico Cemetery, located in Valhalla, New York.
