Thank you, Uncle Norm for encouraging me to pursue a career in fine arts. I still use the "how to draw" posters Uncle Norm created for my art students. Of course, Uncle Norm playing the organ, painting portraits of family members, 4th of July parties with handmade ornaments, Christmas ornaments for charity, giving tours of the home gallery, sharing skills and techniques, etc. are just a handful of many fond memories. Uncle Norm undoubtedly had a positive impact on so many lives. Rest in peace, dearest Uncle Norm. I love you!

Always loved Mr. Volz's visits to Lakeview Schools Veterans Day programs. He generously shared so much with the students and showed many of his drawings. Thank you. Condolences to his family and friends.

Dear Norman, thank you for being a big brother to me when I most needed guidance. You taught me how to "man-up" in a gentle, loving and non critical way. You taught me how to shoot pool, play ping pong, row a boat and canoe as well as sail on Cedar Lake. My sister couldn't have married a better man. You opened your heart and home to our family and the 4th of July parties and you both imparted on us all a love of country and family. I will never forget a letter I wrote to you while flying to Chicago a mere few days before the September 2001 terrorist attacks. While stranded in Chicago on 9/11 I thought about how your generation fought for our freedoms. For some odd reason just knowing that helped me get through what we all must have felt; a combined fear and anger. Again, your inspiration helped me keep it together. I will also never forget how you loved hearing my brother Joey play the organ as you saw in him the genius he had buried deep inside. How about your encouragement that I begin writing poetry? Who would've thought that this dumb Jersey kid could write something that you thought was good enough to share with your artsy friends? You helped form me into the man I am today; imperfect as I am, I would not have smoothed out some of my rough edges without your gentle guidance and example. I connected with Randy, Greg and Cliff today and your positive impact was evident in all our lives. Your sister loves you greatly and she prayed for you unceasingly. I told her about our faith chats and she gave Jesus a shout-out of praise. During Angela's communion service when you kneeled down to pray you whispered something to me and yes, that also taught me a GREAT lesson. Thank you for allowing me to repay some of the love you gave me. I promise to take care of my sister in the way you told me. In some ways we are so much alike mostly being blessed t know the Savini family and their awesome propensity for love. Thank you for allowing me to kiss your forehead and hug you. I could never do that with my father not only because he died when I was young but because men like him had no room for displays of affection. Your the man Norm; a real man and like God, you were never afraid to show love. I will miss you until I return home and see you at the easel in heaven painting in colors not yet discovered. I love you Norman. Wait for me bro, and you can teach me mo' and maybe I can show you some of what you helped me know.
