Obituary of John Andersen

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Andersen passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Sunday June 11, 2023. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a friend to many.

John was born in Newark, NJ. He was one of 6 children, which naturally made him a family man. After successfully completing his Engineering Education at NJIT, He went on to proudly serve his country in the Army during the Korean War. Once honorably discharged, he began his career. John was a loyal employee of Automatic Switch/Emerson in Florham Park where he retired from his position as an electrical engineer after 40 years. He was truly an inspiration for hard work. John also designed and built his own home doing all the work himself to provide a home for his Family. John was a man of many talents and even played the Saxophone.

Before and after his retirement John valued each moment he got to spend with his family. From annual vacations to the Jersey Shore to traveling all over the world on cruise ships with them. John loved being by the water. Whether it was boating with his brother, fishing in Canada, or even going to Atlantic City.  Above all he was the most caring, sweet soul, and selfless husband and father anyone could ask for and will be deeply missed.

Johns’ memory will live on through his devoted wife Carol Andersen. His loving children and step children John and Marie Andersen, Deborah and Bruce Wilcox, Michael and Susan Casey, Laurie and John Castellana, and Dawn Casey. His sister Ingrid and Jeff Conover and Sister-in-law Joyce Andersen. His sweet grandchildren Steven and Stephanie Wilcox, Sara and Arnel Ricafranca, Austin and Emry Ricafranca, Kathryn Casey, Jake Casey, Dean Castellana, Natalie Castellana, Vinnie and Gianna Castellana, Angela and Dan Peragallo, Jae and Elana Castellana, Christie and Tom Sa`, and Ava DiCarlo. His step great grandchildren D`Angelo and Leo Castellana, Gia, Anthony, and Nathan Sa`. He will be forever missed by his sweet family & puppy “Chi-Chi”.

Although we are deeply saddened of his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited in Heaven with his early wife Ann Andersen, and his siblings Edward Andersen, Daniel Andersen, Ruth and Jack McDermott, Eleanor and Louis Scalera.

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 15th, 2023 from 10AM-12PM with a funeral service beginning at 12PM at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville.
