Obituary of Tyler Marcellus Whittemore
With great sadness we share the passing of Tyler Marcellus Whittemore. Tyler passed on the morning of March 13, 2023 at 1:25 am surrounded by his loving family members.
Tyler was born on September 29, 1980 at 6:43am at St. Joseph’s hospital in Paterson, NJ. He was the oldest of 5 children from Michael and Lolita Whittemore. Growing up in Wanaque, NJ he graduated from Lakeland Regional High School and went on to work for Bergen County Special Services with a continuation in special education for over 20 years. During his time there, Tyler touched the lives of his students and colleagues with his charisma, modesty and extreme passion of helping others - something not only his students and colleagues felt, but his friends, family and just about every person he came in contact with felt as well.
Those who knew Ty, knew how passionate he was when it came to the things he loved, especially sports. Ty was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, the Los Angeles Rams, the NJ Devils and NJ Nets. If ever a time you decided you’d want your head bitten off, go ahead and say something even remotely negative about any 1 of those sports teams, you would sure enough come face to face with the wrath of Ty - something absolutely no one wanted any part of.
Tyler also had a tremendous passion for movies which, anytime you’d watch a movie with him, you’d be forced to watch his favorite movie scene over and over and over again, barely getting through a full movie. Ty was just so passionate and wanted you to feel the same magic he felt when watching those particular scenes. He also loved to do movie impersonations and was really great at them too, including his most famous, Tony Montana from “Scarface” and the lead characters from “Goodfellas.”
During his free time, Ty enjoyed spending time with his 2 beautiful children and wife, watching movies with his mother and listening to music, especially his favorite artist of all time 2pac Shakur. He loved to barbeque, go swimming, attend local festivals, sports events and just simply spending time with close family and friends.
Since an early age, Tyler had charisma and charm that would light up a room, naturally making his presence known. He also had a very unique sense of humor which he loved making sarcastic jokes, loved teasing his mother - poking fun at her accent or arguing over the silliest things with his twin brother Gabe. Yet, whether it was an argument or a joke, it usually came from a place of love within his heart.
Tyler is survived by his loving wife Leesa, his beloved 2 children Adrianna and Marcellus, his twin brother Gabe along with his 2 brothers Malachi and Roman, his sister Naomi, his loving parents Michael and Lolita, as well as his stepfather Wilson and 2 stepsiblings, Alexis and Dandre.
In honor and remembrance of Tyler, we are having a celebration of his life. The details are:
