Obituary of Leonard Marucci

Please share a memory of Leonard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

In loving memory of our father, Leonard "Lenny" Marucci, who passed away on March 05, 2023. He was a loving father of Tony, Dan, Cathleen and Christine and to his daughters and sons in law, Jessica, Veronica, Paul and Dennis as well as a grandfather to Joshua, Angiolina, Thomas, Matthew, Ryan, Justin and Iris. He was a big brother to his 5 brothers and sisters. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. One of the kindest souls on this planet, our father was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage.

Early in life, our father learned the importance of hard work from his parents, who moved their family to the US from Italy when he was a young boy, and he instilled that same work ethic in us. He loved the arts, music and especially nature. He spent his entire life exploring our country’s National Parks with his family and friends. He was a man of strong faith and he taught his children and many others the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. Our father was a true role model, not only to us, but to everyone he knew.  He was “Dad” and “Grandpa” to many friends of his children and grandchildren. He was a fun-loving, charismatic man, larger than life.

A memorial service will be held at Norman Dean in Denville, NJ this Saturday, March 11th from 1pm-4pm. Additional services will be held in California as well as in Mexico, where he had developed many friendships and became part of senior and vacation communities as well. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Parks Service. Papa Smurf, you are now at peace but you will live on forever in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
