Obituary of Ralph D. Sens

Please share a memory of Ralph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We raise a toast to our Dad, Ralph D. Sens.  Always the consummate gentleman, he is fondly remembered for his kindness, integrity and wonderful sense of humor.

Dad was born May 3, 1925 in Buffalo, NY to his parents Leolyn and Otto Sens and raised in Hackensack, NJ.  He was a WWII combat veteran serving with the US Army in Europe. After WWII, he attended Pace University where he was Captain of the Basketball team.

On May 3, 1952, Dad married Carol (Cappy) Dixon.  They raised their family in Boonton Twp, NJ where Dad enjoyed gardening, farming, athletics, and family.  Golf became a passion and he and Cappy enjoyed many years as members of Mount Tabor CC, where he served as President for a time.  Later he was a member of Panther Valley CC and Callawassie Island Club.

Dad made many friends in his retirement, living in Panther Valley (NJ), Deerfield Beach (FL), Callawassie Island (SC) and most recently The Oaks in Denville.  He lived a vibrant active life leaving friends and family with many happy memories.  He loved to dance and was never shy about getting on the dance floor.  He enjoyed his Scotch, fine dining and ice cream, sports, playing cards and making his signature French Toast.
He is survived by his children: Russell Sens (Maria) of Bradenton, FL; Carolyn Sens Olenowski of Denville; R. Donald Sens (Kathy) of Denville and James D. Sens (Linda) of Rockaway, NJ; by his grandchildren, Robert Sens (Jeannie), Matt Olenowski, Tim Olenowski, Madelyn Sens and Charlotte Sens. He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Carol (Cappy) Sens, as well as, his brothers William Sens and Frank Sens and his dear friend Mary Feketie.
