Oh Ellen, just heard of your passing, heartbroken didn't know you were so sick. It was so easy working with you, loved your sense of humor and your( Okie dokie smokie ) and when I was helping out at a branch I was there for while Christmas was getting close Ellen stopped in the branch I was at and I wrote her a note, Dear Santa I've been a good girl my Christmas wish is I'd like to be back in my own branch, and Ellen made it happen, any problem that came up she was there to solve it. Yes Ellen it was sad even when I retired we were together for 17 years, your presence was calming easy to talk to weather about working or personal, oh dear Ellen rest in peace in the house of the Lord. Love Annie

To Ellen’s family and friends, condolences on your sad loss.
I had the pleasure and opportunity to work with Ellen for many years at VNB. We had offices on the same floor in Succasunna.
She was a wonderful lady who possessed a great sense of humor and a great laugh! She was very wise and was a people person extraordinaire!
She was there for me many years ago with unwavering support when my wife had a cancer diagnosis and I was very scared. She was a friend! The world is a lesser place without her here…
Dear Ellen please rest in peace, you were a wonderful lady who touched countless lives while you were here.

Too all of Ellens Family and Friends, I'm so sorry for your profound loss. Ellen was a good friend and always supported my work as an artist. We used to meet up for breaky at the IHOP on Mondays after craft-show weekends, before I drove the 12 hours back to my home in Maine. Heaven is an even better place now that she's there. I will miss her so much.

Q: How did you meet Ellen?
A: I had the honor to meet Ellen when we were in 1st grade together at Monmouth Court Elementary School. Ellen lived two blocks from me growing up. Fond memories of growing up and having her grandmother Babysit for my sisters and I and Ellen would come to the house and hang with my sisters and I. Last time I saw Ellen was the night before our 50th High School Reunion in Morristown NJ in August 2019. Ellen wasn’t able to make our reunion but she did come join us for a cocktail at the Revolution Bar the night before. Very very nice to have had her as a good friend and she will be missed . Xoxox

Ellen was not only my sister-in-law but my friend. She was someone you could ask a financial question, about a recipe or tell a joke to all in the same conversation. One Christmas at my sister's house we were having desert and I said to her don't eat that cake it's terrible and she said, "I made that cake, it's Stephen's favorite" and then she laughed. Thats the kind of person she was, little things didn't bother her. Rest in peace your suffering is over. God Bless You Len Scardena

Ellen, you were such a good friend to all of us! We were so lucky to spend Sept in Stone Harbor together! Our chats on the deck, our dinners and most of all our shopping!! I always got in trouble shopping with you! One of the things I will miss the most along with unconditional friendship! Sweet sleep my dear friend❤️

I am truly sorry to hear of Ellen's passing. Our children grew up together and Ellen and I had spent a lot of time of the soccer sidelines. She was always a warm and welcoming person. We have fond memories of our past with the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time.

Ellen was a very special person in my life, and I will miss her tremendously. I am so sad for her family and hope that knowing that she is at peace is a comfort for them. I will always remember our dinners, lunches, shows, painting and partying. Working together all those years was the best and we were better when we put our heads together. Wish there was a phone connection to heaven so I could have a long chat with my best friend. Bless you and love you Ellen.

It is very hard to say goodbye. Ellen was a dear, dear friend and I’m not ready for a world without her. We first met when she and her friend Christine were taking tap lessons from my mother. A few years later it was such a surprise to see her walking by my new house in Lake Arrowhead. We were neighbors! We had so much fun and laughter over the years - dinners, parties, shows, shopping, shopping, and more shopping. I think of Ellen every time I open my jewelry box. And she had such exquisite taste. When my husband passed away, Ellen was a constant source of comfort. She was my Friday night date for many years. I could go on and on; there are so many wonderful things to remember about Ellen. I’ll always be grateful that I had the privilege of being her friend. I miss her.

“It was with a heavy heart that I awoke this morning to hear of the passing of a dear old friend Ellen (Schaefer) Scardina. However my heart and spirit was uplifted when gazing out the window while preparing breakfast a beautiful peaceful snowfall had begun. ‘I knew at that moment Ellen was home’, and the angels were throwing one heck of a welcoming home party. Confetti flying everywhere. Some small light delicate and then some heavy and robust. I thank the lord that you are at peace, and shall always warm my heart by remembering your infinitely bright huge smile that spread throughout whenever, and wherever you would go. Thank-you! My dear friend! “

Q: What will you miss most about Ellen?
A: Ellen always sat in the front seat in the choir. She would let me know when we got to the last verse of the hymn so I could approach the lectern to announce the joys and concerns of the church. I will miss her beautiful smile as I approach the lectern each Sunday.

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Ellen?
A: Thank you for being you! I am so glad that you have been a part of my life for the last 20 years. I so much enjoyed our time together in the Chamber, at NJAWBO events, and certainly your help and presence with BWAW.
I love your bright smile, and admire your strength, clarity of thought and direct approach to everything. I loved listening to your thoughts on my Monday calls, always interesting and thought provoking. You are a bright shining light to many people.
I will miss you. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family for all the pain they ensured this past year and the void they now feel. Rest in peace Dear Ellen, and know that you are always loved.
