Obituary of Joan Lelia Galante

Joan Lelia Galante passed away peacefully and surrounded by family in Kinnelon, NJ, on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the age of 88. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.

Joan was born and raised in Belleville then later moved to Newton where she resided most of her life. She was a loyal employee to Morris County Board of Elections where she retired from her position as an Assistant Clerk. After and during retirement, Joan made time for the things loved. She was an excellent seamstress. She was always making the kids and grandkids their own clothes and anytime something wouldn’t fit right, grandma could fix it! She was always so happy and positive, naturally.  Her energy was contagious. One day the kids were saying they needed haircuts, that same day Joan came home with hair clippers. Next thing you know, she’s become the family hairdresser. She always enjoyed putting a smile on other people’s face whether it was her incredible cooking, baking, her homemade porcelain dolls, or simply sharing a glass of wine and enjoying each others company.

Joan’s memory lives on through her loving husband of nearly 70 years, Thomas John Galante. Her devoted son Edward (Lynn) Galante, and her grandchildren Samantha and Jonathan Galante. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Ganteaume of California. As well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved son Frank Galante.

Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3 rd from 3-7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville (www.normandean.com). A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 4 th at 10 am at Norman Dean Home for Services. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover NJ.
