Obituary of Maria Alice Buie
Maria “Alice” Buie (Brito) passed away at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, NJ after a brief illness on December 3, 2022, at the age of 71.
Born in Salinas, Bahia, Brazil, she emigrated to the United States in 1985 and lived in Astoria, Queens, NY before moving to Denville, NJ in 2008.
She worked for many years as a personal chef, something she loved to do was cooking, whether it was for her family, for work just to help someone out. She was a selfless caretaker and more often than not put other people’s needs before her own. Alice also loved to travel, she enjoyed the ocean and going to beaches. She was also a sports enthusiast, her favorite being the soccer team Flamengo from Rio, Brazil as well as the NY Giants. Above all else, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Alice is survived by her beloved husband of 13 years, Glenn R. Buie of Denville, NJ. She is also survived by her loving son Leandro and his wife Carolina Costa Ribeiro of Orlando, Florida, her cherished grandchildren Alexandre, Lianna and Lucas Costa Ribeiro of Orlando, FL and her stepson John Szpara and his wife Vanessa Lopez of Denville, NJ.
Private services were held by the family under the direction of Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834, www.normandean.com. . Memorial donations can be made in her memory to a charity of your choice in Alice’s name.
