So very sorry for Your loss.I’m a memory from the past. My parents, Edith & Bud Thompson grew up with Joe Dawes. As a child we spent many happy times visiting the Dawes family on the lake. Dave & Bobby took us exploring all over the area. Ralph was a little boy when we were teenagers. Lost touch after our parents past but often thought how much fun we had in Denville. I still have the ceramic bunnies Dottie made for all of us. And Ralph sent me letters while I was in college. Please give my condolences to your whole family. I am Cookie Thompson.

My deepest condolences to Leann and her entire family in the passing of David. A little poem to lessen the pain for just a moment in time.
Affirm the message that death is just our souls slipping into the next room
Fill your minds with memories of David
Laugh out loud of the shenanigans and happiness once shared
Shed your tears of the sorrow of his departure
Strengthen your heart that you will meet again
He will be waiting for others to join him

I will always remember Hoot and I sneaking down into the basement and scaring Uncle Dave... amongst all of our other shenanigans in his basement full of wonders!
I hope Uncle Dave is at peace. Sending love and comfort to his family.

Condolences to the Dawes family from Duane & Sandy (Kley) Milk. Many memories of our times together at Indian Lake. Especially my first ride in his '64 Ford Mustang, when I learned why it got it's name, when the front raised up in all 4 gears!!! May he R.I.P.

I am lighting this candle because he loved candles. My condolences to his kids, Kate, Leann, and David. They were always in his heart. He was so excited that his son was going to be a father and it is sad he never got to meet little Madison Joyce. Memories with him for all his friends will live on. I will miss him more than words, as will his Knapp cousins, Geri, Carol, and C.J..He talked about them and with them until he died. Hey, Dave, you are resting your eyes, not in pain, and don’t let the bed bugs bite. Love you.

What to say….Big Dave will always be a part of my memories of Denville days. From seeing the bathtub outside his house from the school bus on my way to Valleyview, to taking trips with him and his family at Cape Cod, to just hanging out randomly as the years went by. He always made sure to say hello and ask how I was doing. I often would come in the house and hear him blasting ELO from the basement! He was a great and kind man who will be missed by a lot of people. I’m so glad he was able to join in on the celebration at my wedding. Rest easy Big Dave… from bones!

So sorry for your loss. Dave was our plumber for many years. He taught us how to raise a fig tree and gave me his recipe for lemoncello. He will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
