Obituary of Frances L. Chuff

Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Frances L. Chuff passed away peacefully with her loving children by her side on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover. She had 81 plus years of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born and raised in North Bergen to the late Nicola and Lucia Lucci, she was one of eight children to bless their household. After graduating Emerson High School, Class of 1958, Fran went on to marry her best friend and soulmate, Matthew Chuff, Sr. on April 16, 1966. They settled into Denville to raise a family of their own. Fran was a very hard worker, having had many jobs throughout her life; she had been a Receptionist and Secretary and even a Lunch Aide for a period of time. Her most notable employers are Valley View Middle School.

Fran had an unwavering faith and conviction. She was not one to draw attention to herself. She wouldn’t want us to fuss about her, but she deserves the recognition. She was sweet, caring, considerate of others, and extremely generous. She always donated whatever she could; her time, money, and energy. No one ever went hungry in her house and she was always available to lend an ear if needed. If there was a school trip for the kids, she was the first to volunteer to be chaperone, which allowed her to go to some really cool places including Europe and on some spectacular cruises. She was the President of both the Denville Senior Citizens and the Rock Ridge Community Club Women’s Auxiliary. Fran was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Her guilty pleasure was watching old black and white television shows. She loved all living things, especially dogs. Above anything else, her family was her pride and joy.

Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Matthew, her parents, siblings, and her faithful pup, Shyla. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her adored children, Matt and Linda Chuff; her caring brother, Daniel Lucci; and dear extended family and friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20th from 8:30 – 9:30 am at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Mass of Christian burial will take place immediately following the viewing at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Fran’s memory to any children or animal rescue charity of your choice. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Fran here to continue to let her light shine.
