Obituary of Michele Scotto D'Aniello
Michele (Mike) Scotto D’Aniello passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Morristown Medical Center. He shared 85 years of unconditional love, hard work, dedication and memories with his family and friends.
Born in Monte di Procida, Italy, Mike was one of nine children born to the late Gennaro and Assunta Scotto D’Aniello. From the young age of 8, Mike worked hard to support his family, working as a deckhand on transport ships.
At age 19, Mike and his family emigrated to the United Stated where they settled in Brooklyn, NY.
On July 13, 1964, he married his soul mate and best friend, Paolina Bompartito, and together had three beautiful children before finding their forever home in Newton, NJ in 1999.
After working as a longshore man for 13 years. He founded Bay Pizza in 1968, with his brother-in-law in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn, which became his passion for over 25 years.
Nothing surpassed his love for his family, especially his 6 grandchildren, but when he wasn’t doting over them, you could assure he was listening to classical Italian music, drinking a cocktail, hunting or in the garden.
Mike was a very intuitive and creative man and could fix almost anything with just a piece of a rope! He loved to share stories and reminisce about his childhood.
He leaves only joyful memories to his beloved wife of 58 years, Paolina, his cherished children, Rosaria Moskowitz, Assunta Franklin (Erik), and Vincent Scotto D’Aniello (Maria); his treasured grandchildren, Marcella, Stephanie, Giana, Jason, Ariana, and Mila; his loving sisters Nunziatina and Concetta; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
To say that he will be missed is an understatement, although, we find comfort knowing he is at peace and watching over everyone with love and pride. Mike will continue to live on in our hearts and memories forever.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 4th at 10 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
