Gerald Frank Idec passed away at Morristown Medical Center on July 30, 2022,
at the age of 79.
 
Born in Newark, he grew up in Nutley and moved to the Indian Lake section of Denville Township, NJ 55 years ago.
 
He worked as a plumber for 30 years, 17 of those years he was self-employed. He then went to work as a custodian for the Mendham Boro Board of Education before retiring in 2005.
 
In 1964 Jerry married the love of his life Carol Duxbury at St. Valentine’s Church in Bloomfield, NJ. They raised their loving family together in Indian Lake where they were members of the Indian Lake Community Club. There they would relax on the beach, enjoy the lake, and participate in all the traditions and functions held at the clubhouse. He loved to fish in the local lakes and ponds of his community, he also loved gardening, being well known for his 14-foot sunflowers that adorned his front yard, as well as the 65 birdhouses that can be seen throughout his yard. Another passion was going to garage sales, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren.
 
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Carol (Duxbury) Idec of Denville, NJ.
He is also survived by his loving sons Jerry Jr. and his wife Marnie Idec of Dallas, PA and Scott Idec of Denville, NJ. His adoring grandsons Jacob and Eli Idec also survive him as well as his sister Katherine Baglione of Las Vegas, NV.
