Marlene Colonno

Obituary of Marlene E. Colonno

Please share a memory of Marlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marlene Ellen Colonno passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston after a courageous battle with cancer. She had shared 70 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and priceless memories with family and friends.

Born and raised in Scotch Plains to the late Roland and Edith Prague, Marlene was the only child to bless their household. After graduating High School, Marlene settled down and began a family of her own. She raised her son, Michael, in Upper Saddle River. Once Michael was an adult, Marlene went back to school to make her dreams a reality. Marlene loved helping people; she earned her Bachelor’s Degree, her Master’s Degree, and even went to a specialty school to become a Psychoanalyst. Having been licensed for 20 years, Marlene owned and operated her own practice, most recently out of Montclair. Her occupation required her to be an active member of her community, which she cherished and thrived at. She was a hard worker who always made sure to provide for her son. Once her son married and had a baby, Marlene’s world was complete. The sun rose and set on her cherished grandson, Jackson. In her spare time, you could find her making stained glass or jewelry. She was very creative and talented.

Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing we have the greatest Guardian Angel watching out for us from Heaven.

She leaves only joyful memories to her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Theresa; her treasured grandson, Jackson; and her devoted best friend, Gloria Mahoney and her husband Liam.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, June 24th from 4 - 7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville, NJ. Celebration of Life will begin at 6:30 pm. Please light a candle, leave a condolence, and share your favorite memory of Marlene here to continue to celebrate the incredible life she bestowed upon us.
