Obituary of John Francis McCormack

John Francis McCormack passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Morris View Nursing Home on May 21, 2022, at the age of 89.

 

Born in Staten Island, NY he had lived in Jersey City before moving to Mt. Lakes, NJ in 1971.

 

John proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

 

He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and then worked at Citibank in Manhattan, NY for 38 years before retiring as Vice President of Municipal Bonds in 1990.

 

John enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Mt. Tabor Country Club.  He was also Marshall at the Seniors Cadillac Open in Montclair, NJ.  John was bowling champion at the Mt. Lakes Club, the Mt. Lakes swim club association president, served on the Mt. Lakes Board of Adjustment, was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in New York City, loved the NY Giants and collecting coins and stamps, but above all else he loved to spend time with his grandchildren and attending as many of their events as he could.

 

He was predeceased by his son Baby McCormack in 1960, as well as his granddaughter JoAnna and his brother Martin and his wife Maryanne McCormack, and his parents John Joseph and Bridget (Coyle) McCormack.

 

John is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Rosemary (Musarra) McCormack of Mt. Lakes, NJ.  He is also survived by his loving son John Francis II and his wife Maura McCormack of Tampa, FL as well as his adoring grandchildren Braden, Matthew, Morgan, and Brigid and also by his brother Thomas and his wife Marie McCormack of Fairview, NJ.

 

Visitation will be held on Thursday May 26, 2022, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 078343 www.normandean.com.

 

A Liturgy of Funeral Mass will be held on Friday May 27, at 10:00AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church 10 North Pocono Road Mt. Lakes, NJ 07046.
