Although flowers are lovely, donations to the good work of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Colorectal Cancer Center are much appreciated.
Joseph was born in Alia, a small mountainous village on the Italian island of Sicily. He was one of seven children to bless Salvatore and Crocifissa (nee Barcellona) Siino. In 1955, Joseph and his family embarked on a cross Atlantic voyage to the United States to seek a better opportunity.
Within a year of their arrival to the U.S., his father passed away, thrusting Joe (age 20) and his brother Bartolo into the “father figure” role of the family. They needed to support their mother and five younger siblings in every way possible. They settled in a modest Newark apartment, with Joseph working multiple jobs handing every paycheck to his mother to help support the family. His resourceful nature and strong work ethic eventually led him to the plumbing vocation. He learned the trade as an apprentice and by 1971, he became a Master Plumber, proudly operating Siino Plumbing and Heating for the next 40 years.
On June 9, 1963, he married the love of his life, Frances (nee Lobrace). By 1979, they moved their growing family to Livingston where their four sons could benefit from a strong school system, making beautiful memories all along the way. Joe always worked hard, making sure his family had a good life and a loving home. No one epitomized the “American Dream” more than Joe Siino.
At home, he enjoyed making wine and tending to his fig trees. In his later years, he delighted in trips to West Palm Beach with Frances. A constant throughout his life, he savored being with his family. His greatest titles were those of “Nonno” and “Papa”. The sun rose and set on his seven grandchildren and his smile was widest and brightest when the kids were near. Joseph was the proudest father and grandfather. Although we are saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is watching over his family with love and pride.
He leaves beautiful and proud memories to his wife Frances of 59 years; his sons Joseph (Jennifer), Rocco (Lisa), Salvatore (Amy) and Anthony (Kellie); his cherished grandchildren Jacqueline, Anthony, Joseph, Thomas, Trevor, Jake, and Kyle; his dear siblings Maria Valeriani (Italo), Rose Solano (Vincent), Sebastiano “Sam” Siino, Carmela Sisco (Frank) and Celestino Siino (Sandra); his sister in law Maria Siino; and many dear nieces and nephews, customers and friends. His dear brother Bartolo “Lino” Siino passed previously.
