Greg and family. I just learned of your mom's passing. So sorry for your loss. What a wonderful, full and long life she lived. I know she will of course be missed terribly but may the treasure of so many happy memories be with you all always. As was said she is once again with her husband. They are both watching over you all.

As “old timers” of our Indian Lake neighborhood, we knew Ann for 30+ years. When our children were young there was always a trick or treat stop at the Shayka’s place as well as hellos and greetings if we met when passing by their house and in the church parking lot after mass.
But during the last 5-7 years when I unexpectedly retired, Ann had become more than than a casual acquaintance and neighbor. We really got to know each other well during my visits with her on her lovely deck during the warm weather months. There we would talk among all the beautiful plants and flowers that Liz potted and arranged, and what seemed like a five minute visit would actually be an hour or more. The time would pass so quickly as we shared news and stories about our families, friends, the neighborhood, memories of the past and present thoughts and feelings.
I found Ann to be a lively conversationalist and so easy to talk with. I was impressed with her technological abilities and we frequently kept in touch via texts as well. Ann always showed interest in me and my loved ones and I appreciated her for that, along with her encouraging words and comfort and advice now and then, in short, her friendship.
I will miss our visits, frequent communication and waving whenever we went by her house in case she saw us from her deck or if she happened to be looking out her window. Many times, there was Ann, always with a smile and a wave.
Thank you Liz, for providing me with the updates on your mom while she was ill. Our heartfelt sympathy to you and all the Shayka family at this difficult time. May you find peace and comfort knowing that Ann loved and appreciated her devoted family and that you all fulfilled her wishes until the end.
Goodbye and Rest In Peace our dear friend. The neighborhood will never be the same without you.

Ann was a wonderful neighbor. We lived on Chestnut Hill and would stop to chat with her as we rode our bikes. Our deepest condolences to her wonderful family. May the memories you hold in your heart comfort you. Linda & George Allaman

I have fond memories of going to auntie Ann’s in denville and hoping to come home with some chiclets or double mint from her work - she was so kind - I don’t think I ever heard her raise her voice! To all the Shayka cousins - I hope there is comfort that she lived a long and healthy life - love and hugs.

Here is the last pic I have of her and Dad.

Our hearts are saddened by the loss of Ann. What a life she lived! She was a long time true friend to our dearly departed grandmother, Elizabeth Martin. Staying in touch with Ann since Grandma’s passing has been a delight. Witty and sharp as a tack, she regailed us with memories of days past and current. She will be missed!
