Obituary of Sherry L. Guzman

After a brief illness, Sherry Louise Guzman passed peacefully on February 15, 2022.  She shared 62 years of love and pure joy with everyone she knew.  Friends and relatives may visit on Sunday, February 20^th, from 1 – 5 pm at the Norman Dean Home for Services.  A Funeral Service will begin at 4 o’clock in the afternoon.  Flowers are lovely, but donations are encouraged to the excellent work of Nick's Hope. On March 31, 1959, Sherry was one of two daughters to bless her parents.  She attended ----schools and then went on to earn her BA in Fine Arts from Caldwell College.  She always loved horses and being at the stables as a young girl.  While moving her mare to Hackettstown one afternoon, she met Alfred Guzman, and the rest was history.  They fell hard for each other and married after a brief courtship in 1982.  They started a family of their own, and soon Sherry was the proud Mom to two little boys.  She did everything with the kids and Al! They went camping; she made their Halloween costumes, painted, baked, and loved being with her family. 

Sherry worked for Travelers Insurance for many years and was a Senior underwriter.  She worked hard and was downright GOOD at it.  Her peers respected her, and she truly enjoyed the work. 

She could be found in her garden with her grandkids or crafting something at home. She sewed and was very crafty! If you are a lucky recipient of one of Sherry’s handmade Christmas ornaments, then you know she loved you. 

She enjoyed time in Lake Hopatcong and riding her Harley with her family and her extended family – Tri-County Motorcycle Club.  Sherry was a saint and would do anything for anybody.  Her presence calming, her smile inviting.  She was generous to a fault and patient always.

Above all, she loved having her six grandchildren fill her home.  She was the adored GG, and the sun rose and set on the kids.  Although we are broken-hearted, we are confident her beautiful spirit will never leave us, and we will continue to live our lives genuinely and charitably, the way Sherry lived hers.  Her goodness to others will live on through her Gift of Life.

She leaves only beautiful memories to her devoted husband Alfred of nearly 40 years; her sons Sergent First Class Alfred Guzman III (Charlene) and Joshua Guzman (Megan Daly); her six beloved grandchildren Gabrielle, Alexander, JJ, Lilianna, Mason, and Julietta; her dear Mother Miriam Sherman; sisters Tammy Wise and Barbara Ricigliano and many more dear family, friends, and acquaintances. Her father, Roy Wise, passed previously.
