Obituary of Lou Segreto

Louis “Lou” Segreto passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Morristown Medical Center. He had shared 73 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, priceless wisdom, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born and raised in Paterson to the late Alfonso and Isabelle Segreto, Lou was one of two children to bless their household. After graduating High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Delaware State University. He married the love of his life and best friend, Sandra Street, on August 21, 1971. They remained in Delaware for their first year of marriage before settling down in Rockaway to raise their children. He spent many years coaching various sports in Rockaway Township. Lou was a smart man and with an unparalleled work ethic; he had a very successful career with Verizon working as an Engineer for nearly 30 years. All of his hard work and persistence paid off when he was able to make his lifelong dream come true. In 2015 Lou and Sandra moved to their dream home in Netcong with a serene view of Lake Musconetcong.

Endearingly nicknamed “Pop” from his grandchildren, Lou’s first priority in life was spending time with and taking care of his family. They were the light of his life, and he was their guiding star. When he wasn’t spending time with family you could find Lou watching his treasured Yankees. He also loved a good thunderstorm; he could watch the lighting strike for hours and even traveled with the storm to continue the excitement. An avid fisherman, he relished his time spent on the boat with a fishing pole in one hand and a giant fish in the other. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and could often be found collecting seashells while there. He also was a coin collector.

Above all, we will miss his contagious smile. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his parents and that we have the greatest Guardian Angel watching out for us from above.

He leaves only joyful memories to his beloved wife of 50 years, Sandra; his loving children, Rachael Jacobs and husband Mick and Russell Segreto and wife Tina; his cherished granddaughters, Molly, Savannah, Celia, and Cora; his caring sister, Judy Kowalski and husband Lou; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Public Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 5^th from 12 – 2 pm with Funeral Service beginning at 1:30 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. **Masks are required to attend services** Memorial Donations are being accepted in Lou’s memory to The International Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia Foundation (IWMF) by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation.
