Obituary of Mary Therese Joyce

Mary Therese Joyce of “The Oaks” of Denville, NJ entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her funeral on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Public Visitation will take place from 9 – 10 am at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Mass to follow at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s RC Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in East Orange, NJ.

 

Born and raised in the Vailsburg section of Newark, NJ, Mary Therese was the daughter of John E. and M. Theresa Joyce (Connelly). She also resided in Chatham, Clark, and Brick Township during her lifetime.

 

Mary Therese was a graduate of Benedictine Academy, Elizabeth, NJ and Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia, PA. Her many years of employment as an Executive Secretary included National Citibank, NY and Engelhard Corporation, Menlo Park, NJ from 1947 – 1990. She had many interesting and humorous experiences in her long life which she loved to relate to her family and friends.

 

Formerly Mary Therese was an active volunteer and member of the League of St. Mary’s Hospital, Orange, NJ, Eucharistic Minister and a member of the choir at St. Agnes Church in Clark, and a member of the Rosary Altar Society and Eucharistic Minister to the sick at Visitation Church in Brick.

 

She was predeceased by her beloved brothers, John E. Joyce, Jr. “Jack” and Robert J. Joyce “Bob” and his wife Pat; also her adored sisters, Jane Daly and her husband Tom and Elizabeth “Betty” Kerwin and her husband Jimmie; and her niece, Elizabeth O’Connell, nephew Matthew Joyce, and grand-niece, Alycia La Plaga.

 

She is survived by 10 cherished nieces and nephews, many grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and third generation family members and her sister-in-law Carol Joyce.

 

Mary Therese was a devoted supporter of Priests for Life and The Eternal Word Television Network. Donations in her memory made be made to Priests for Life, PO Box 236695, Cocoa, FL 32923.
