Obituary of Victor J. Garofalo

Please share a memory of Victor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Victor J. Garofalo passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. He had shared 79 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, priceless wisdom, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Born in Orange to the late Victor and Katherine Garofalo, he was one of six children raised in Livingston. After graduating from Livingston High School, Class of 1960, he proudly served our country in the United States Army National Guard. Once returning home, he continued to further his education. Victor earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He went on to begin a very long and accomplished career in Sales. He always worked so hard in order to provide for his family. They were always his first priority and he had great respect for those he loved. He was an attentive husband, loving father, doting grandfather, loyal brother and uncle, devoted son, and trustworthy friend.

He married his best friend and soulmate, Carol Belcuore, on January 15, 1972. Together they traveled this journey called life hand in hand, always on the same team. They had moved around quite a bit before settling down; first in Morristown, then Brick Township. In Crystal Lake, IL they began a family of their own and after eight years, relocated to Morris Plains, NJ to be closer to family, until recently when they migrated to Waretown.

Although his family was his pride and joy and the reason for waking up every day, Victor did have some vices, as we all do. He was the family amateur photographer and videographer and we will forever be grateful for all of the memories that he captured. He loved sports; he played in High School and watched in later years, football, basketball, and baseball. Personally, golf was the sport nearest to his heart. He even won a couple of hole-in-ones at the Greenbriar Oceanaire Golf and Country Club in Waretown.

He was our gentle giant, our confidant, our protector, our everything. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing we have the greatest Guardian Angel watching out from above. The next time you bite into anything chocolate, particularly ice cream, please think of Victor and know he is smiling down enjoying that treat with you.

He leaves a lifetime of joyful memories to his beloved wife of 50 years, Carol; his loving children, Jennifer (Bill) Barrett, Victor Garofalo, and Amy (Steven) DeAngelo; his treasured grandchildren, Emily Garofalo, Victor Garofalo, Julia Barrett, Billy Barrett, and Jake Garofalo; his caring siblings, Joe (Linda) Garofalo, Bobby Garofalo, Garry (Debbie) Garofalo, Debbie (Ralph) Dangola, John Garofalo, and brother-in-law, Robert (Fran) Belcuore; his adored Grand-Pups, Ace, Chloe and Brody; and Teddy who met him at the gates of Heaven, along with other family members who went before him.

Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18th from 3 – 7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 19th at 10 am at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 10 North Pocono Road, Mountain Lakes, NJ.
