Obituary of Grace C. Tomey
Grace C. Tomey passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Regency Grande in Dover. She had shared 93 years of priceless memories, unconditional love, and wonderful adventures with family and friends.
Born and raised in Newark to the late Frank and Rose Capitti, she was one of two daughters to bless their household. She graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Newark. Grace married the love of her life, James “Jim” Tomey, and together they shared a beautiful life together with many escapades. They loved to travel. In 1960 they found their home in California and Grace secured a job with Trans World Airlines which allowed her and Jim to travel the world. They went to countless places, including but not limited to Australia, China, Paris, New Zealand, Italy, and Ireland. Grace’s guilty pleasure was shopping. She enjoyed many trips to Tijuana with her sister on shopping ventures once returning home to NJ in 2019. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Jim, her parents, and other family members in Heaven.
She leaves only joyful memories to her loving sister, Phyllis (the late Peter) Skolsky; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Burial will be private. Grace will be laid to rest with her husband at St. Cecilia Cemetery in Rockaway. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Grace here to continue to celebrate the amazing life she shared with us.
