Sending my deepest sympathy and love to Al, Mason, Kristy's family and friends. I had the privilege of working with Kristy in her kindergarten classroom for many years and am deeply grateful for the endless gifts she shared as a friend, co-worker, and educator. Her spirit and passions were infectious, her energy and support was tireless, and she always encouraged others to be their best...to be empathetic, kind, learn from failure & success, love, and have fun in the process. Kristy's heart was BIG and for all whose lives she touched and enriched, she'll live on in our hearts and memories. Rest in peace my friend. XO

Our time on this planet is marked not in years but by the impact our actions have on others. To that extent, in her nearly 52 years Kristy has lived more fully than most would in 100.
I met Kristy about 30 years ago when my chosen brother, Al Schaub, started dating her. I grew up next door to Al and he’s been part of my life since birth. He’s always had a good heart, but the tragic loss of his father, an amazing man, when Al was just 14 left Al with a lot of anger and he lost sight of who he was for many years. And then he met Kristy. A beautiful young woman with a larger than life personality and an infinite capacity for love. As a former olympic athlete, her body was as strong as her will. She shared the same joy of ridiculous humor that the rest of Al's band of eternally sophomoric friends had and her impact on Al was immediately obvious. He was smiling again. With Kristy’s guidance and encouragement, he ended prior self destructive behaviors and began taking care of himself. They changed their diet and worked out together to keep their bodies healthy. Kristy’s positive attitude was infectious, and with her love, Al released his anger over time and realized his true self. A generous loving man who cares deeply for others and always seeks opportunities to use his talents to fill someone else’s bucket. Kristy always saw it in him, even when others did not.
Kristy was an incredibly passionate and dedicated educator who cared deeply about the nearly 500 students she taught during her 19 year tenure in the Tewksbury school district. You never heard her refer to them as students though. To her, they were always “her kids.” She chose to teach kindergarten because that’s where children have their first formal experience with structured education and she knew that if she could make that an amazing and memorable experience, she could set those children on a path of a lifelong passion for learning, and just as importantly, teach them the skills necessary to be a good friend and citizen. I had the honor and privilege of teaching in the same school district with Kristy for a brief period. Energy poured out of her classroom with every smile laced “HELLOOOOO” that she bellowed to students and colleagues alike. It was incredible to see her in action and the way her kids responded to her. Especially the kids that were labeled by others as the “problem kids.” Kristy saw and brought out the best in everyone. She saw each child as an individual that had their own way of learning and unique needs, and worked tirelessly to ensure that every child got what they needed to be successful. She endured a lot of political nonsense and frustration with multiple changes in administration at the school over the years but never let it impact the important work she loved doing in the classroom with her kids. The first groups of Kristy’s kids are now in the work force and building lives for themselves. I’m willing to bet if you ask them which teachers made the biggest impact in their development, Kristy is sure to be at the top of that list.
When Kristy and Al decided they wanted to extend the love they shared to a child of their own, they ran into challenges conceiving. Kristy was told by doctors that she may not be able to bear a child, but those doctors clearly didn’t know Kristy. The road was long, difficult and emotionally exhausting. But true to form, Kristy never gave up and was willing to do whatever it took to create what she knew would be a wonderful addition to her family and the world. We thank God everyday for Kristy’s resolve and her delivery of Mason 14 years ago. Now a young man who in every way proves Kristy was right, Mason has been and continues to be the focus of so much love and positive energy in the Schaub family.
In life, I believe that we transfer a little piece of ourselves to everyone we have positive influence upon. I will miss Kristy’s physical presence tremendously, but am so incredibly grateful that I will continue to see her smile on Mason’s face, her kindness in Al’s actions, her humor in my wife’s nickname Melba (which Kristy gave her and I still use today), her passion in the army of kids that she taught, and her love that I will always carry in my heart for Kristy, Al and Mason.

This was a beautiful tribute to read. I had to comment because my neighbor's children are among "The first groups of Kristy’s kids... now in the work force and building lives for themselves" and their parents immediately commented on the huge impact Kristy had on their lives and how much they loved her. Your wager, "I’m willing to bet if you ask them which teachers made the biggest impact in their development, Kristy is sure to be at the top of that list", is spot on.

Kristy was so funny and could make anyone smile just being in her presence. I remember in high school one day she was talking about The Olympics. As I knew her to be an amazing swimmer, I asked her what she had to do to be in the Olympics. She said, “you just sign up”with a totally serious face…and then we both started cracking up. To Al and Mason, my sincere condolences. May her memories bring you peace and comfort one day. To her soul sista, Lisa, sending you big warm hugs. Kristy will always be remembered with a smile and a sparkle❤️

Here is a picture from August 2021 with Kristy and Mason. Kristy told me that being Mason's mother was the most important experience of her life. Not only was she filled with absolute love, Mason taught her how to be an even better teacher.

I remembered the proud NJ.com article Mason wrote about his mother and father as a 4th Grader, 'Kids talk about what makes them unique',
https://www.nj.com/hunterdon-county-democrat/2018/05/kids_talk_about_what_makes_them_unique.html
Tewksbury Elementary School
In my parent's eyes, I'm unique. I was their miracle baby because it took 11 years of praying for me to arrive. It was a 60 degree day in January. I shot out like a football. Now that's special! My parents tell me that I am beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. In addition, my brain works uniquely. It can see and solve problems better than most. Finally, my parents and my teacher remind me how caring and loving I am. My teacher says I am patient and nonjudgmental. I love helping kids who have special needs. I think that is because I have some special needs of my own. My parents love me more than life itself. HOORAY FOR ME!

If that is not an example of Kristy's love, I don't know what is. Kristy was sparkling and joyful and allowed all of us to share in her sparkle and joy. It was a privilege to have her as my son's teacher. One more memory... Yesterday, even before I knew Kristy had passed, I was remembering December 1st 2015 in her kindergarten classroom because it was my son's birthday. Kristy allowed me to visit the classroom dressed as Santa to celebrate 2 student's birthdays; Austin (my son) and Kian (Austin's classmate and birthday twin). That is such an awesome memory for me. And that is only my memory of Kristy from yesterday! I had only just met Kristy back then, but wish I knew her sparkle sooner. Our hearts (the entire community's) are with Al, Mason, the extended family, and her colleagues. God Bless you all.

My condolences to Kristys family, Al, and Mason. Kristys effervescent personality always lit up her classroom, hallways and even staff meetings. She was always a passionate teacher which showed in her students’ love for her and their love of learning because Kristy made it fun! I loved working with her and know TES will not be the same without her. Such a great loss but know that Kristy made a difference. I can still see her beautiful smile! Hugs

Both of my girls had Kristy for kindergarten. A better start to their education is hard to imagine! Kristy was the total package: Smart, funny, approachable, pragmatic, lovely and kind. We are forever grateful for the memories she left with our children, and the friendship we shared. Her loss is immeasurable.

Kristy lived her life in exclamation points and pink glitter. She was such a presence, sharing joy and enthusiasm everywhere she went. We were hired together 19 years ago, and she has left such a mark on my heart of what it means to live and teach with joy. Al and Mason, please know we are all mourning with you, and Kristy's presence will be forever felt here in the halls of TES.
With a heavy heart,

Kristi was beautiful inside and out. Her devotion to her students and her family is her legacy. Each teacher friend should strive to embrace their students with the same commitment and enthusiasm Kristi had for her students to honor Her within her beliv d profession. My prayers are with her loved ones.

I would never forget the day I met Kristy. I was standing with Mason waiting for him to be picked up at a summer day camp. Then Mason blurted “out that’s my mom with her loud beat up car”. After that day I heard stories about Kristy’s antics when she’s driving both from Al and Mason. The best story was Mason wearing his protective helmet when Kristy is driving him places. Hehehe! Both your boys will always tease you about your driving skills and you always accept the teasing with finesse and a loud contagious laugh. Kristy we may not see each other all the time but every time we see each other you never failed to put a smile on my face or oftentimes give me a belly ache from too much laughing. I will always remember your bigger than life outlook and your love of teaching younger minds. Keep wearing your tiaras and tutus up there in heaven. You will surely be missed.

To say that Kristy will be missed is a major understatement. Kristy always made me (and everyone around her) smile with her sense of humor, her amazing energy, and her love of Bon Jovi and all things 80s. As my sister Lisa’s best friend (and the Lucy to Lisa’s Ethyl), Kristy was family. We shared so many celebrations from graduations to weddings to becoming parents. Nothing made Kristy happier than her amazing husband Al and beautiful son Mason. Kristy was loved and adored by so many, and will always remain in my heart.

It was an honor to know Kristy. Here are some photos that are just a sampling of the Kristy that Tewksbury Elementary School knows and loves. She was constantly winning the "Ugly Sweater Contest" and dressing up to the EXTREME for our spirit days like... "Wacky Wednesday," "100 Days of School," and even the Cat in the Hat. The stars will shine and sparkle more brightly due to her presence and I am thankful to have been touched by her glory. Sending my love to all. - Karen Morrow

I had the privilege of working with Kristy as a fellow kindergarten teacher for the last 15 years. Her bubbly personality filled the room and instantly made others feel at ease. In many ways we were opposites but somehow we complimented each other and had a chemistry like no other. Her passion for kindergarten and teaching was only rivaled by the fierce devotion to her husband and son. She leaves a void that can never be filled; but a legacy that will remain. My deepest sympathy to her family.
