Obituary of Janet Barzda

Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Janet Barzda passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. She had shared 80 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and priceless memories with family and friends.

Born in Brooklyn to the late William and Evelyn Ritter, Janet was one of two daughters raised in Queens to bless the Ritter household. Janet graduated High School and went on to become a Secretary for Tide Water in Manhattan; this is where she met her best friend and future husband, Henry “Hank” Barzda. They were married in 1961 and the rest is history. They began their family in Staten Island before finding their forever home in Rockaway Township. Janet was a talented Human Resources Manager and she was employed at several business before becoming a Real Estate Agent. She was a hard and dedicated worker. Once Hank and Janet retired, they moved to Wellington, FL where they remained for 20 years before returning home to NJ. Above anything else, Janet was our Matriarch; the best Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma anyone could ever ask for. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Hank, her parents, and her sister, Beverly Hochhauser.

She leaves a lifetime of happy memories to her loving daughters, Karen Barnacle and her husband Robert and Lisa Quincey and her husband David; her kind step-son, Eric Barzda and his family; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Conor and his wife Christie, Corisa, Dean, Dylan, and Brandon; her treasured great-grandchildren, Mila, Sibylla, and Lydia; her caring brother-in-law, Steve Hochhauser; and many more extended family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 29th at 10 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Burial will be private. Memorial Donations are being accepted by way of www.inmemof.org.
