Obituary of Lina Tibaldo

Please share a memory of Lina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lina Tibaldo passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. She had shared nearly 97 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and priceless memories with family and friends.

Born in Newark to the late Feruccio and Erminia Vallarsa, she was the second oldest of five children to bless their household. At the age of 3, Lina and her family relocated to Montorso Vicentino, a town in the province of Vicenza, Veneto, Italy. She grew up on a farm and was taught by her parents the importance of hard work and dedication to family and Lina excelled at it. When her brother was off fighting in the war, she stepped up as the next oldest child and helped out every single day to take care of her household. Lina met her soulmate and best friend, Andrea Luigi Tibaldo and they were married in 1946. After the war, they moved to the United States and settled into the North Ward section of Newark to begin a family of their own. Lina and Andrea brought Italy to Newark; they were able to have an incredible garden with trees for growing apples, pears, figs, and more. They also had all types of vegetable and herb plants, in addition to pretty flowers. Lina’s cooking with all these fresh ingredients were unparalleled. She also, along with help from her husband, made homemade wine and meats. She had a passion for cooking and hosting parties and gatherings for family and friends alike. Breaking bread with many people, coupled with her compassionate and caring spirit allowed for lifelong friendships and memories that will last forever. For the past 20 years, she has been a resident in the Fox Hills section of Rockaway Township. There she was a member of the Italian American Club and the Single Ladies Club. She was truly a one-of-a-kind woman and she will be sorely missed and forever treasured in our hearts for generations to come. We take comfort in knowing she is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, her parents, and her siblings, Rita, Maria, Ines, and Feruccio.

She leaves only joyful memories to her adored son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Julie; her cherished granddaughter, Andrea Addesso and her husband Jason; her treasured great-grandchildren, Adriana and Alessandra; her caring niece, Mary Carlotto; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in the U.S. and Italy.
