Obituary of Sr. Consuela Scott

The Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception mourn the loss of their Sister Consuela Scott, SMIC, who died peacefully on October 2, 2021at the age of 90 in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Paterson, New Jersey.

Sister Consuela was born in Richmond, Virginia on September 20, 1931 to John and Emma Maude Scott.  She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Sister Consuela entered the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God in 1955 in West Paterson, NJ. She attended Howard University and Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, earning a M.S. in Library Science. She received a Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education from Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts.

Sister Consuela concentrated her missionary work as Librarian, Pastoral Minister and Chaplain.  Some of the institutions she was associated to are: Our Lady of Victories Parish, Chaplain at Passaic General and Beth Israel Hospitals in Passaic and St. Joseph’s Hospital, Paterson New Jersey,

Sister Consuela’s great desire was to live God’s will, to love Him with her whole heart, mind, soul and strength, and to love all her sisters and brothers in the Lord’s family. 

Sister Consuela’s wake will be on October 11, 2021 at 9:45 am followed by a funeral liturgy at 10:00 am in the chapel at St. Francis Residence, Denville, New Jersey.  Interment will follow in the cemetery of the Missionary Sisters on Rifle Camp Road, Woodland Park, New Jersey.
