Obituary of Linda J. Scillia
Linda J. Scillia passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 28, 2021. She had shared nearly 80 years of unconditional love, infectious laughter, and priceless memories with family and friends.
Born and raised in East Orange to the late John “Jack” and Margaret “Peggy” Jarman, Linda was the eldest of four children to bless their household. After graduating High School, Linda went on to attend Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. Her true calling though, was to be a Mom; and there was no one better at it. Linda was not only the best Mom to her own kids, but also other children in the neighborhood would come to her for advice and more. You could always count a delicious homemade meal and unbiased guidance through this journey we call life from Linda. She was most known her homemade meatballs and gravy for adults and steaks for her dogs. She loved animals and even enjoyed taking care of the horses when the family resided at the Dickinson House in Livingston, NJ. Her beloved pets, Rambo, Sophie and Jaluca, while with us, gave her great joy; along with her extended family pets, Chiqui, Frankie, Opal and Oliver who all brought a smile to her face until her passing. A hockey Mom, Linda was a free spirit and thoroughly relished her time at the beach; she grew up on the Jersey shore. However, her favorite beach was definitely Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks. She also loved movies and used to enjoy bowling and playing cards, specifically Hearts, Pinochle, and Bridge. Above anything else, her family was her pride and joy. We will always remember her generosity, loyal friendship, and pure heart. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her parents and sister, Cheryl Devine.
She leaves a lifetime of joyful memories to her adored children, Carl (Carol), John (Paula), and Joanna (Claudia) and their father, Anthony “Tony” (Judy); her cherished grandchildren, Jocelyn (Steve), Anthony, Michael, Alessia, and Janella; her treasured great-grandchildren, Luke and Landon; her caring siblings, David (the late Audrey) Jarman and Roger (Linda) Jarman; her brother-in-law, Paul Devine; Melissa (Jair) Burnside, whom she loved like a daughter, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
All services will be private. Memorial Donations are being accepted in her memory to The Humane Society of the U.S. or Best Friends Animal Society by way of www.inmemof.org to ensure receipt of your donation. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Linda here to continue to celebrate the incredible life she endowed to us.
