Mass of Christian Burial
Obituary of Josephine Pitcher
Josephine (Netzer) Pitcher passed away peacefully Saturday July 10, 2021 at the young age of 96.
Josephine was best known as Josie, but was also called “Jolly Jo” because she lived life to the fullest, always with a smile and a laugh. She loved life, even more so if it involved chocolate candy or root beer floats.
She was married to the love of her life and her best dance partner, Charlie, for over 50 years and they had six children together. Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, her daughters Joanne Austin and Kathy Ahern, and her grandson, Griffin Thoma.
Her surviving children are: Robert Pitcher of Lewes DE, Marylu Pitcher of Stanhope NJ, Michele Duffy of Essex CT and Laura Thoma of Sea Girt NJ. Surviving grandchildren are: Michael Pitcher, Matt Austin, Danielle Thoma, Charlie Thoma and Pema Duffy, and great grandchildren are Logan and Delaney Pitcher, plus many other relatives and friends.
Josie devoted her life to her family, friends and community, especially the St. Claire’s Harvest Festival and the Thursday Club of Mountain Lakes.
She leaves us all with many happy memories. She was loved dearly by her family and all who had the pleasure to know her. She will be greatly missed.
The funeral Mass for Josie will be at St. Catherine’s Church in Mountain Lakes NJ at 10 am on Friday July 30th. Donations in her memory may be made to the good work of the Marine Corp Law Enforcement Foundation or to The Embrace Kids Foundation.
