Richard J. Norman passed peacefully at home following a courageous battle with brain cancer.  He shared 70 years of love and devotion with his family and friends.

Friends and relatives may visit on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 4-7 pm at the Norman Dean Home For Services.  A Funeral Service will begin at 7 o’clock. Donations in his memory may be made to the good work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by way of www.inmemof.org

Richard was born in Dover to the late Richard and Maria Norman.  After his schooling he proudly enlisted in the US Air Force, upon his honorable discharge he headed home. Rich served Rockaway Borough as a Special Police Officer and he played the Saxophone in the Denville String band. He met Frances in the Spring of 1977, they married in 1978 and made their home in Mount Arlington.  While raising their two children he was a devoted volunteer for Mt. Arlington’s Recreation Little League as a Coach, a member of the American Legion Lake Hopatcong Post 245, and volunteered many hours at Our Lady of the Lake Church.

Rich worked for Dixon Oil for over 22 years, retiring in 2017.  He worked hard to give his family a good life.  With retirement came much free time.  Easy to fill of course with his grandkids….his best bud Andrew and his princess Paisley. The sun rose and set on the kids and he always encouraged them in whatever they were doing.

He leaves his wife Frances of 44 years; his son Steven Norman; daughter Laura Dicker and her husband Travis; his grandchildren Andrew Dicker and Paisley Norman; his sisters-in-law Carol, Elaine and Lisa; sisters Nancy, Betty and Barbara; and many more dear friends and relatives.  He has been predeceased by his parents and his sister Dolly.
