Jim lived around the corner from the Golczewski's. Joseph, Stella, Larry, Ted & Kathy. He took care of L & T when my parents went out. He took out Ted & Mary to the Rainbow room in NYC just after our wedding in 1967. We went to Dinner with him several times. I remember traveling with him to visit St. Peters College and taking the train to tour NYC when we were younger. He was truly one of a kind, a beautiful person. May God Bless Him as he is truly in Eternal Peace. Theodore & Mary Golczewski

Around 2014/2015 Jim was referred to my Concierge Service while Jim was living at Saint Francis in Denville, NJ. I was able to assist Jim to remain independent. On 4/1/21 not only did I lose a client, I lost a true friend a friend who treated me with respect and always put me and others ahead of himself especially in the COVID enviroment.
Thru Jim , I was introduced to Alan Porto, Via Jim, Jim shared that Alan was a intern of his back in the GAO days and kept in touch with each other until Jim’s passing.
Alan Porto & I were with Jim up until his final hours and we were able to still make Jim laugh!
Jim, A true Humble Gentleman!!!

Jim was the perfect gentleman. When my father passed, Jim flew down to Norfolk, Virginia to attend his funeral. Work was the most important thing in his life. He even worked on Saturdays, so when they closed GAO's New York Office, it took away his desire for living. Before working for the U.S General Accounting Office, he worked at Tiffany & Co. He never received recognition from the office, but he was respected and loved by his colleagues.

Jim was one of a kind. I worked with Jim on several assignments at GAO. He had a great mind and generous. He had the neatest desk in the office. He didn't need a stack of papers because he had a great memory. Remember vividly that we were in D.C. and had a written testimony that we put together and somehow disappeared in one of the director's office before the final copy. Testimony was the next day and didn't have a backup. Somehow Jim had it memorized and we started from scratch in time for the director to testify. Another time we had to travel from D.C. to New York and tally thousand of numbers in a day for testimony the next day. It was just Jim and I. I would read off ten numbers and he would total the ten numbers in his head. We would have never finished in time except for his great mind. His work meant so much to him and took real pride in getting it right. Definitely the world lost a good man with his passing.

I am so sorry to hear of Jim's death. As a colleague of his at GAO, I remember his kindness, above all, which he manifested most clearly in welcoming new staff and in supporting people in times of trouble. He was dedicated to the work that we did and always retained his humor, modesty, and perspective. Eileen Sullivan

I have known Jim since 1982 when I joined GAO as a high school intern for a single year. His encouragement led me to become an accountant and technologist. I was fortunate enough to stay very close to Jim until his passing. Rest In Peace.

I’m so sorry to hear that Jim has left us. I was in the New York office from 1983 – 1990 as assistant and later Regional Manager. Jim was wonderful to work with—a real pro. He knew his work and did it with energy and commitment. Jim was very good with new staff, teaching them the ropes, helping them understand who we were and why we did what we did. He was fair and supportive. Our colleagues in GAO Washington liked Jim because of his commitment and know-how. May he rest in peace and may his family and friends enjoy knowing that he contributed significantly to the good work of GAO.

I worked with Jim at the New York office of the GAO and was the recipient of much of the good advice and example he imparted. Jim was definitely one of the most self sacrificing, honest and caring men I have known. I am sure he is enjoying a much deserved spot in heaven. RIP Jim

Rest In Peace, dear Jim. He was a modest, hard-working man and a very faithful colleague and friend. I so enjoyed our conversations about many things, especially musical theatre; one of his favorites was an off Broadway show called “The Unfinished Song”, which I came to love as well. He became friendly with my son Michael when I brought him to the office, and Michael asked Jim to be his Confirmation sponsor. Jim took the train to Westfield and participated with my family in the ceremony. The photo shows Jim as the proud sponsor. I don’t know anyone who didn’t like Jim. We will miss him dearly.

Jim was my supervisor the first time I led a review for the New York office of the General Accounting Office (now Government Accountability Office). He really taught me the ropes and, even though he did a lot of the work, he made sure I got most of the credit. Jim was one of the kindest and most generous people I ever met and I will never forget him. He deserves a very special place in heaven. Rest in peace, Jim!
