Obituary of Vincenta Meehan

Vincenta Meehan died on March 23rd, 2021, the day of her eldest (deceased) son, Bill’s birthday.

She is survived by 3 living children, Beth, Kevin and Thomas, her beloved son-in-law, Bob, daughters in law Ruth and Jane, her grandson, Tom, granddaughter,  Valerie, and great-grandchildren Samantha and Thomas. 

Vinnie was born in Morristown where her father, Vincent Azzara,  was a lawyer and law librarian until his death from influenza days before her birth.  She has lived on Long Island, in Brooklyn and in Chappaqua, and for the last 18 years at The Oaks in Denville. Vinnie attended Pratt Institute and worked as a Home Economist at BBDO where she retired as Head of the Test Kitchen. Until recently she could be found every morning at the Oaks Library where she read the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, the newspapers spread out before her on a large table.

She was smart, feisty and independent managing during a year of Covid lockdown with help from caring staff, and communication with extended family and friends.  She will be missed.
