Obituary of Marilyn Gail Schauer
Marilyn Gail Schauer (Markel) passed away at the Oaks of Denville on December 15, 2020, at the age of 93.
Born in Cumberland, MD she lived in Cresskill, NJ for many years before moving to Denville, NJ 17 years ago.
Marilyn attended the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ and was a professional singer, and sang at Carnegie Hall, the Philharmonic Hall and Rockefeller Center in New York City. She toured Europe with the Pro Arte Chorale. She was also a soloist at the Presbyterian Church of Tenafly, NJ and worked many years as a secretary for the Boro of Cresskill, NJ at the Boro Clerks office.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Alice (Endress) Markel, and by her beloved husband the Reverend John W. Schauer Jr. who passed away in 2010. She was the beloved sister of Richard Kempton Markel of California and was predeceased by her sister Janet Schroeder of Maryland.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter Kathy and her husband Bob Myers of North Haledon, NJ and by her son Jay and his wife Barbara of North Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren Chrissy Sarkissian of Wayne, New Jersey and Steven Myers and his wife Caitlin of Springfield, Virginia, as well as her grandchildren Annika, Christopher and Timothy Schauer. Marilyn was blessed with her great grandchildren, Evan Sarkissian, and Owen and Andrew Myers.
A memorial service will be held at the graveside following the COVID pandemic under the direction of Norman Dean Home for Services 16 Righter Ave Denville, NJ 07834 www.normandean.com.
