Obituary of William S. Hiler, Jr.

William “Billy” Hiler, Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Dover. He had shared 68 years of unconditional love, dedication, laughter, and memories with family and friends. 

Born in Dover to the late William Hiler, Sr. and Elizabeth (Condit) Hiler, he was one of two sons to bless their household. Raised in Rockaway, Bill attended Morris Hills High School before joining the United States National Guard. He married Marcia Lourie on August 21, 1971, and together they settled in Rockaway Borough to begin their family. After serving our country, Bill discovered his true passion, TRUCKS. In 1973, he started W. S. Hiler Trucking in Rockaway with just one truck. Fast forward to 2020, Bill successfully built a thriving business with his hard work and fierce devotion. Hiler Trucking Co. now has a fleet of 40 trucks and committed staff. He truly put his heart and soul into his company, and it shows. Other than work, Bill’s biggest pride and joy was his family. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for them, and they wanted for nothing. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, we take comfort in knowing we have a Guardian Angel watching out from above. 

He leaves lasting memories to his beloved wife of 49 years, Marcia; his three children, William Hiler III and his wife Tina, Monica Fleming and her husband Michael, and Timothy Hiler and his wife Diana; his cherished grandchildren, Kamryn Koerner, Jaxon Hiler, and Greyson Hiler;  his caring brother, Paul Hiler; his four-legged companion, Mack, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. 

Relatives and friends are welcome to join us for a walkthrough visitation on Thursday, November 12^th from 3 – 7 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Ave., Denville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 13^th at 10 am at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, 90 Church Street, Rockaway. Burial will follow at Rockaway Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Memorial Donations are being accepted in Bill’s memory by way of www.inmemof.org to 11^th Hour Rescue.
