Obituary of Virginia B. Day

Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Virginia "Ginny" Day passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2020 at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover. She had shared 84 years of unconditional love, kindness, and generosity with family and friends.

Born and raised in New York City to the late Edward and Margaret Walsh, she was one of seven children to bless the Walsh household. After graduating High School, she married her soulmate and best friend, Joseph “Chicky” Day. On July 17, 1954, Ginny and Chicky vowed forever to one another. Together they settled down in Denville to begin and raise a family of their own. Ginny found her true calling when she became a beloved wife and even more so when she became a Momma. She was a gracious, classy, and compassionate woman with a pure soul. Her happy place was anywhere her family was; her husband, children, and grandchildren were also her first priority and we will be forever grateful to her for that trait. Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her dear husband, Chicky, her loving sons, Joseph and Kenneth Day, her parents and siblings.

She leaves only joyful memories to her devoted daughter-in-law, Kathleen Day; her cherished grandchildren, Joseph and Nicole “Nikki” Day; her caring brother, Kenneth Walsh and his wife RuthAnn; her niece, Samantha Walsh; her dear friends and neighbors at Cook’s Pond; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

All services will be private. Memorial Donations are being accepted by way of www.inmemof.org to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, or share your favorite memory of Ginny here to continue to celebrate the extraordinary life she endowed to us.
