Obituary of Barbara Jean Barrick

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Barbara Jean Barrick passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville. She had shared 80 years of unconditional love, laughter, and amazing memories with family and friends.

Born in Beloit, Kansas to the late Kenneth and Alverta Gray, she was raised in Concordia, KS and was one of four children to bless the Gray household. She graduated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception High School in Wichita, KS. It was in Kansas where she met her first husband and the father of her children, Herbert Allen Trillich. Once he came home from the Air Force, they relocated to the Indian Lake Section of Denville, where she raised her children. Barbara was a determined and motivated worker. She started off her career as a Mom and hard worker next to her then husband at his company, Trillich Machine where she was very active in making and delivering machine parts. In 1979, she married Raymond Barrick and began her next venture. Together they loved to go fishing and golfing. Barbara then worked for Sulky Transport as a Bus Driver driving disable children to and from school. The next position she held was at The Chubb Life America/Jefferson Pilot Insurance, where she retired as Mail Room Supervisor in 2002 after 10 years of service.

A talented seamstress, Barbara made many of her own clothes growing up, as well as her family’s clothes, curtains, slip covers, and more. She also was an avid baker with infamous cookies and banana bread; in fact, she had to make two banana breads for every family gathering, and that was never enough. She was a member of the Peace Pipe Country Club and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, both in Denville. Endearingly called “Grandma” by all her friends and family, Barbara will be sorely missed. Her banana bread and countless other wonderful memories will be passed on for generations to come. Although we are deeply saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Raymond Barrick, her step-daughter, Beth Barrick, her sister, Jackie Brown, and her parents.

She leaves only joyful memories to her adored children, Marie Trillich, Kenneth Allen Trillich, and Herbert David Trillich and his wife Elaine; her loving step-daughter, Kelley Barrick; her cherished grandchildren, William and Wyatt Trillich, Jessica Lowe, and Ava Mitchell; her treasured great-grandchildren, Kaylee Benner, Payton and Abigail Trillich, Isaiah Benner, Madyson Popp Lowe and Jacob Clark; her caring siblings, Cindy (the late Harvey) Lowe and Kenneth (the late Marsha) Gray; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 3rd at 12 pm at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 15 Myers Avenue, Denville. Burial will be private. Public Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 2nd from 4 - 8 pm at Norman Dean Home for Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. Memorial Donations are being accepted by way of www.inmemof.org to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share your favorite memory of Barbara here to continue to celebrate the beautiful life she shared with us.
