Obituary of Ruth Ann Eisenhardt
Ruth Ann Eisenhardt (nee Nilsson), 88, of Denville, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020.
She was born to the late Walter and Emma Nilsson in Newark on December 16, 1931.
Ruth, nicknamed Foofie, graduated from Newark’s Barringer High School in 1949, where she lettered in softball. She completed her studies at the Berkeley Secretarial School in East Orange and went on to work as the administrator of the MONY Life Insurance Company management training program in New York City.
Ruth married Charles F. Eisenhardt in 1954 and had five children. The couple lived in Rockaway for seven years before settling in Denville in 1962, where they resided for over 50 years. Charles passed away in 2014.
Ruth was very artistic and loved to draw and write poetry. She developed a talent for the piano as a child and continued to play for the rest of her life. “She didn’t play music, music played her”. Ruth enjoyed driving her red Miata convertible, solving crossword puzzles, tending to her African violets, reading, looking after her cats, and rooting for the New York Yankees. She enjoyed many Summer vacations on Long Beach Island. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, including her eight grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her five children and their spouses Gay Eisenhardt and John Weagley, Mark Eisenhardt, Peter Eisenhardt, Wendy and Darren Somerville, Scott and Judy Eisenhardt, and grandchildren Adam, Hayley, Kristen, Max, Maya, April, Oliver, and Malcolm.
